Clear aligners vs braces: what changes?

Both can move teeth, but they differ in visibility, removability, daily responsibility and the movements they can predictably manage. The better option depends on your bite and goals.

Clear aligners

Aligners are removable and discreet. They require consistent wear, careful cleaning and safe storage. Some cases need tooth-coloured attachments or other auxiliaries.

Braces

Braces stay on the teeth, so they do not depend on remembering to insert trays. Cleaning around brackets takes extra care, and food guidance may apply.

The decision

An examination, bite records and appropriate imaging help a clinician assess complexity. Ask what each option can achieve in your case and how progress will be monitored.

Take this to your consultation

Bring a short list of your concerns, relevant medicines, previous dental care and the questions you want answered.

Your next step

Discuss your needs with a dentist

Only an in-person examination can determine which treatment, if any, is appropriate for you.
